A chieftain of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) and aspirant for the Oyo Central Senatorial District, Hakeem Salawu, has called on youths and residents of the district to actively participate in shaping a better future for the zone through hard work, unity and commitment to development.
Salawu, in a statement made available to journalists, said the future of Oyo Central would not be achieved through mere expectations but through collective sacrifice, innovative ideas and determination by the people, especially the younger generation.
According to him, young people must stop waiting for change to come from elsewhere and instead take responsibility for building the society they desire.
“The future we desire will not be handed to us on a platter. It will be built by our ideas, our sacrifices, our hard work, and our determination to create a better tomorrow,” he said.
The senatorial aspirant stressed that history had shown that meaningful societal transformation often begins when young people rise to defend their interests and contribute positively to nation-building.
He urged residents of Oyo Central to believe in their strengths, talents and collective ability to shape the destiny of the district, adding that the time had come for greater participation in governance and community development.
Salawu also called for renewed commitment towards entrepreneurship, education, innovation and youth empowerment, noting that the district deserved leadership that listens to the people and prioritises their aspirations.
“Oyo Central deserves leadership that listens, leadership that empowers, and leadership that carries the dreams of the people,” he stated.
He further appealed to the people of the district to support his vision for a more prosperous Oyo Central, insisting that the task of transforming the district could not be achieved by one individual alone.
“I need your energy, your ideas and your support. Most importantly, Oyo Central needs your participation,” he added.
Salawu maintained that the movement for a better Oyo Central should be driven by collective effort and shared vision, expressing optimism that the district could attain greater heights through unity and sustained engagement.
He encouraged residents to remain actively involved in the democratic process and work together towards building a better future for Oyo State and the country at large.
