…… Returns Adegbenro as State Chairman
The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Oyo State on Saturday held its state congress, returning Otunba Fagbemi Adegbenro as the party’s state chairman alongside other newly elected executives to steer the affairs of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The congress, held at UMC primary school, Molete in Ibadan, formally inaugurated a new set of state officers and senatorial executives as the party intensifies preparations for future political contests in the state.
The development comes amid growing political realignments in Oyo State, with the APM emerging as the political platform being adopted by Governor Seyi Makinde and several elective office holders in the state.
As confirmed, members of the House of Representatives elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as well as PDP members in the Oyo State House of Assembly who secured return tickets, have defected to the APM to contest subsequent elections on the platform of the party.
At the congress, Adegbenro was returned as state chairman, while John Adejumo emerged as deputy chairman and Oke Demola as state secretary.
Other members of the newly inaugurated state executive include Aderoju Bolatito as assistant secretary, Babajide Musa as treasurer, Lamidi Quadri as assistant treasurer, and Adenike Adekunle as woman leader.
Tina U. Afolabi emerged as assistant woman leader, while Olumide Ojo was elected youth leader and Salawu Dauda as assistant youth leader.
Barrister Olapade Dauda was elected legal adviser, Adegoke Anifat emerged financial secretary, while Riike Olaniran and Chief Olowoniyi Adewumi were elected organising secretary and assistant organising secretary respectively.
Also elected were Amubode O. Tosin as Public Relations Officer (PRO), Adeosun Sunday as assistant PRO, and Salami Jemilat as auditor.
For the senatorial districts, Adesina Mashood, Afolabi Rilwan, and Amao Emmanuel O. emerged as senatorial chairmen for Oyo South, Oyo Central, and Oyo North respectively.
Similarly, Toyosi Suara, Olalekan Temitayo, and Ojeyinka Tope emerged as senatorial women leaders for Oyo South, Oyo Central, and Oyo North respectively.
The congress also produced Hon. Ibrahim Jinadu, Hon. Afeez Olayimika, and Mustapha Lukman as senatorial youth leaders for Oyo South, Oyo Central, and Oyo North respectively.
Other officials elected at the congress include Oladosu Akanbi, Adeyemo Micheal, Hannah Babarinde, Ajani Akin, and Alhaji Kamorudeen Ajigbotolorum T. as ex officio members.
