Ram Prices: Hope Heightened As PDP Leaders, Islamic Clerics, Appointees, Allies Await Makinde’s Ram Gifts

Many Oyo People’s Democratic Party, PDP leaders, Islamic clerics, political appointees, and some Muslim Faithful believed to be allies of the Oyo state government, Seyi Makinde have shifted their hopes of celebrating this year Eld-El-Kabir with a ram to the governor.
It is no more news that Muslims across the world are gearing up for this year’s sallah coming up on June 17 however, many faithful have lost hope of getting a ram to celebrate with their families due to the high cost of Rams.
Some of the factors that might be responsible for the hike in prices of ram may include insecurity in the North and the inflation in the country which affected animal husbandry.
Our reporter who went around places where Rams are being sold in Ibadan gathered that a big ram is being sold between N500,000 and N700,000 while the least were sold for N200,000.
Many of the governor’s party leaders, allies, clerics and appointees, who can’t afford to buy ram due to the exorbitant prices, now reportedly lobby their names to be included on the list of beneficiaries of governor Makinde’s sallah ram gifts.
Though, many had lost hope in buying, but building hope on some insiders in Ikolaba, the governor’s house giants.
When weeterndailynews.com went through the governor’s office, house and the Omititun House
at Iwo road, since about two days ago, the cars and buses possibly waiting to pick up Makinde’s sallah ram gifts made it known that, all expectation is now on the governor.
In a relax discussion with some of the governor’s appointees who were Muslims and some party leaders over the last 2 days, it was scooped that, they were all anxious to be listed for governor ‘s ram.
According to one of the party leaders from Oyo town (name withheld) who spoke to our reporter while discussing expectations for the sallah celebration said, many of the party leaders who are Muslims in Oyo town are looking onto governor Makinde’s cash and ram gifts to celebrate the Sallah as the economy is not too good at the moment.
He said, “though, I used to get government ram but, still prays I’m not left out this year.”
Also, one of the governor’s appointees confirmed that, even if his salary is paid the Sallah, he will not still able to afford ram that is being sold in the market this year.
” As an S.A to the governor, even if my salary is paid before Sallah, it is
less than N250,000, I will service the loan, give some of my leaders a stipend for the Sallah as well, and do other things, so, I have no choice but to look for Ram from the governor. Thou, they said he always gives appointee rams ik every Sallah, this is my first year and I hope I will also be one of the beneficiaries, because, my ram is on a high price this year, and I don’t have much money to buy.
Above all, since it is a yearly routine for the governor to gift Sallah rams or cash to personalities within the party and beyond, we hope that the expectations of many will not be cut short as we prepare for this year’s Eid El Kabir
