Easter: Celebrate, Merry, But Don’t Forget To Replicate The Lessons Of The Season – Oyo PDP, Urges Christians
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state has urged christians to replicate the lessons learnt from the Easter season in their daily lives even as they celebrate and merry in the euphoria of the Easter celebration.
The ruling PDP in Oyo state in a press release by its State Chairman, Hon Dayo Ogungbenro, and made available to journalists by the State Publicity Secretary, Engr Akeem Olatunji, on Sunday 17 April, explained that the problem with people with regards to interfaith relationship is placing religion above humanity.
The party added that Christians must rise up to the expectations of Jesus Christ who according to the Holy scriptures sacrificed himself out of love and compassion for mankind stressing that love does not speaks any other language than humanity.
Oyo PDP according to the press release said Seyi Makinde as the Governor of the state has exemplified the virtues of selflessness, commitment, and dedication to the development of human welfare and service to humanity by ensuring love and peace across the state regardless of religious differences.
The ruling party also said that Nigeria as a nation under God will surmount its current challenges if leaders at the national level are as committed to nation building as Makinde calling on religious leaders and clerics to intensify prayers and spiritual supplications to God in order to guide the thoughts and choices of Nigerians aright even as 2023 approaches for the people to make another major collective decision in its national history.
“We want to use this Special occasion to rejoice and celebrate with our Christian brothers and sisters in Oyo state and the entire nation and to wish them all a happy celebration.
“It is important we do not take this season as a mere annual festival but a special time to reflect and meditate on the reason for the season which scripturally are sheer display of love, sacrifice, compassion, forgiveness, and most importantly, oneness in humanity.
“Our Governor, the one God has sent to heal not just our wounded hearts but our land, Governor Seyi Makinde has continued to show unwavering commitment to service to humanity through various human-centered policies and programmes that have impacted and continue to impact lives positively.
“As the ruling party, we feel obligated to continue to deploy state resources to the welfare of residents in order to ensure there is improved quality of life and standard of living but again we understand that if we do not set aside politics and mischiefs we may not really appreciate fully the magnitude of selflessness and commitment of the Seyi Makinde led Government even in the face of evil political conspiracies and machinations among the so-called politicians with unending penchants for political power.
“Our Christian brothers and sisters, leaders and clerics alike must as a matter of duty intensify prayers and spiritual supplications to God at this critical time the state and nation are about to make another very important decision at the polls come 2023 so that we do not on account of deceits, deception, lies and falsehood derail from the path of God’s plan and purpose for us.
“We assure that, as a political party, we will continue to interface and engage government at all levels in the state to ensure that dividends of democracy is practically brought to bear in the lives of our people even to the rural areas of the state while wishing our people a very happy celebration.
“We urge them to reflect on the importance of the season and not just the fanfare and celebration therefore, may God continue to keep and guide this state and nation on the path of truth, fairness, and justice regardless at all time.” Oyo state PDP stated.
