The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, have called on the public to adhere strictly to the guidelines/rules of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, to stop the spread of Coronavirus across Oyo State.

NSCDC Commandant in Oyo state, Alhaji Iskilu Akinsanya made this known while declaring open a day training exercise for officers of the Command on the Role of Security Personnel in Containment of COVID-19 Outbreak.

Commandant Akinsanya said if people could follow the laid-down rules for Covid-19, officers and men would treat them professionally.

While speaking on the role and responsibilities of security agencies, Alhaji Iskilu admonished the officers and men to implement government’s directives on curfew and interstate lockdown with the fear of God and professionalism.

He encouraged them to cooperate with sister agencies and relevant authorities such as NCDC by ensuring consistency of messages to communities and share their feedback with relevant authorities.

Meanwhile, the corps had earlier busted a mosque at Ikolaba Area of Ibadan where religious activities were taking place, but the faithful fled on sighting the security personnel before they could make any arrest.

The NSCDC boss therefore warned all religious bodies in the state to obey the law and comply with the rules and regulations regarding the containment of Covid-19, as anybody that errs will face full wrath of the law.
