Alaafinate: Public Opinion Pendulum Biyi Odusakin

The public opinion is a powerful element that indicates a little of Almighty’s direction on certain issues.

When you hear people saying (ohun eniyan ni ohun oloun), the voice of people is the voice of God . It is a spiritual word, not just a parable.

Even in religious activities, praying in a group attracts the attention of God easily. A stick of broom is just as useless as nothing but a bunch of it can sweep a mile.

All these aforementioned are about the current situation of the vacant stool of the Alaafin of oyo.
Findings and the publications made so far by oyo princes who are contesting to fill the vacant stool of alaafin are enough to produce about five hundred pages of book. The lovers of history must have learned so many histories of oyo and yoruba-land that they haven’t heard before .
Let me be very objective here. Adebiyi ( the writer of this article) also learned the one I haven’t heard before.
I was shocked after reading one of the publications made by one of the contender to the vacant stool of the, that the name “aafin” doest not belong to all yorubas, but oyo. I believe the way I learned one, so does others.

The atmosphere speaks, and so do the birds and flies, but only the wise ones can understand the interpretation of that particular language. The body language of oyo people is speaking a particular language, which i don’t think the kingmakers understand .

The public opinion gauge is in favour of a particular young prince . Mentioning his name is baseless. About 70% of every gathering or communities anywhere globally is between the ages of Ten to forty-five. (Youths) while the remaining 30% is divided between the toddlers and aged people. Obviously, the youths have the highest population around the world. Can we now say youths are rulling the word? Yes, Because I don’t think there’s nothing they want of which they won’t get. Unless they are not serious about it.

The attrocities committed so far by the five members of oyomesi (the kingmakers ) and four politicians across the four local government in Oyo metropolis are enough for youths to initiate any protest. The findings revealed that the sum of eleven million naira collected by each member of the kingmakers and the sum of twenty million naira each was also received by four different political office holders across the four local governments.

Now that the wind has blown and the Hen’ anus is visible. Afefe ti fe, ati ri furo adie.

It requires no science rocket to identify the way forward.

The two wise ones of the five members of kingmakers who had already envisage the current situation from the onset never touched the ill-gotten sum of eleven million naira given to them. That’s why they honourably honoured the invitation by the EFCC. The other three members who have spent their ill-gotten funds are the ones in a highly lugubrious situation , and no one can say what the outcome will look like.

For someone who has been in a political office for almost four(4 )years ,he or she could probably delve into public funds to refund the payee in order to exonerate him/herself out the big mess or apply for a loan if there’s no avenue to embezzle. But what happens to the three other members who have enjoyed the sum of eleven million naira collected for the purpose of manipulation that didn’t work out . The fear of payee’s reaction is their major concern. they too, had seen and realised the youths are fully ready to die with them instead of installing a pretentious lifestyle and no future ambition candidate as new Alaafin of oyo.

Findings further revealed that while other princes ( contenders) were mourning the late oba lamidi adeyemi the 3rd, a particular candidate had no time for mourning. He had already started the plantation of manipulation methods in order to outsmart the others, not knowing there is a clearer difference between being smart and being intelligent.
A primary school drop-out can be smart, but it takes a lot to be intelligent and intellectual.

Read. Read again, and again, digest the illustrations and tell yourself what the final decision would be.

What a season movie.
