Sending Senator Soji Akanbi name to INEC by ADC leaders is Illegal – Olatunji Haastrup – heads to court

After dumping All Progressive Congress APC due to rivalry for senatorial return ticket with present Oyo State Governor, Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi is still finding it uneasy to be a candidate for next year senatorial election under his yet to be officially announce new party, African Democratic Congress, ( ADC).

After the leaders of ADC had unanimously agreed to present Senator Adesoji Akanbi as ADC candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, another aspirant within the party, Olatunji Haastrup Adewale (a.k.a. Wale Murphy) has approached the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, praying it to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to
reject the Senator Adesoji Akanbi name ahead of 2019 elections.

Another suit marked FHC/IB/CS/113/2018 was jointly filed by other plaintiffs : Aderemi Aderemi Olatunji E. Olajide; Olasunbo Olalekan Olakunle; Seun Segun Akinborewa; Abass Alesinloye Kolawole Olabimtan and Hon. Olufemi Josiah also prayed the court to in the same manner, reject the ADC’s nomination of Mr Wasiu Olatubosun, Adeyemi Adekunle Yakub, Gaphar Ojetola and Abiola Ahmed Akindipe as candidates for Ibadan North West/South West federal Constituency; Ibadan North East 2, Ibadan North 1 and Ibadan North West respectively.

The joined defendants to the case filed by Olatunji Haastrup Adewale are the State Chairman, Dr. Ahmed Ayinla, Mr. Wasiu Olatubosun; Adeyemi Adekunle Yakub; Gaphar Ojetola; Abiola Ahmed Akindipe; Chief Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja; Chief Michael Koleoso; Dr. Busari Adebisi; Chief Layiwola Olakojo and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
