Senator-Elect, Sharafadeen Alli Visits Scene Of  Bodija Plank Market Fire, Promises Support

The Oyo South senator-elect, Barr. Sharadadeen Alli on Thursday visited the scene of the Tuesday afternoon fire at the Bodija Plank Market, Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

The inferno destroyed over 120 shops at the market with Planks and Machines worth millions of Naira.

Alli who described the incident as unfortunate and heartbreaking, maintained that he would find means to support the finance of building of new shops for the victims as well as support them in starting up their businesses over again.

He said: “I commiserate with the people that are affected at such a time like this, this is the least of the things that we expected because of the present economic unbalance, but we thank God that no life lost.

” I understand the pains and the loss on the side of the victims, but we just have to wish them well and quick recovery from the unexpected loss” Alli stated.

He thereafter admonished shop owners at the Plank Market to always apply precautions and safety measures within their environments to avert unforeseen circumstances.

Alli who also visited the Baale of Plank market community, Alhaji Sulaimon Inaolaji to empathize with him for the loss, was however congratulated for his election victory and eulogized for his many years of humanitarian services.

Alhaji Inaolaji having thanked the senator-elect for the visitation and promise of assistance said, he has always been an admirer of Sharafadeen Alli since when he was the local government chairman of Ibadan North. Alhaji Inaolaji explained that Sharafadeen Alli allotted shops to many market men and women free when he was in a position to collect from them all.

Also, the chairman of All Progressives Congress ( APC ) at Bodija market, Elder Sunday Akinpelu JP. praised Sharafa Alli for his visit to the market after the inferno, saying, the senator-elect has been supportive of the people of the market over the years and will surely fulfill his promise made to the victims of the inferno as soon as possible.
