Party Ticket Crisis, Atiba LG PDP Chairmanship Candidate, WABKEM To Reappear In Court On Fresh Charge

The High Court of Justice, Ibadan Division sitting in Oyo has requested the appearance of the Atiba local government People’s Democratic Party Candidate, Mr. Wahabi Waliu Adetunji
to appear before the court on alleged impersonation of name.

Others to appear in Court as defendants alongside Mr. Wahabi Adetunji were, the Oyo State People’s Democratic Party, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, and Mr. Tijaji Muideen.

The claimant, Mr. Olanrewaju Afeez Basorun approached the High Court of Justice, Oyo, to stop Mr. Wahabi Adetunji, the 3rd defendant, and Mr. Tijaji Muideen 4th defendant from participating in the coming Oyo state local government election having claimed with evidence that Mr. Wahabi Adetunji laid claim to another person’s documents to contest the local government election.

Olanrewaju Afeez urged the court to declare him as the lawful chairmanship candidate of PDP in Atiba local government as well as ask the court to mandate the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission to substitute and recognize him as the rightful candidate of PDP in the April 27th local government election.

Mr. Olanrewaju Afeez Basorun’s prayers to the court include:
:
a. A declaration that the 3rd Defendant is not qualified to take part in or
otherwise, contest any and/or all the stages of elections into the office of
the Chairman of Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo State in the local
government election to be conducted by the 2nd Defendant on 27th April,
2024.

b. A declaration that the 4th Defendant is not qualified to take part in or
otherwise, contest any and/or all the stages of elections into the office of
the Chairman of Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo State in the local
government election to be conducted by the 2nd Defendant on 27th April,
2024.

c. A declaration that the Claimant is the lawful candidate or flagbearer of the
1st Defendant into the office of the Chairman of Atiba Local Government
Area of Oyo State in the local government election to be conducted by the 2nd Defendant on 27th April 2024.

d. An order barring the 2nd Defendant from accepting or receiving from or
otherwise recognizing or giving effect to the name of the 3rd Defendant as
the candidate or flagbearer of the 1st Defendant for the office of the
Chairman of Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo State in the local
government election to be conducted by the 2nd Defendant on 27th April,
2024.

e. An order directing the 2nd Defendant to recognize the Claimant as the
lawful candidate or flagbearer of the 1st Defendant into the office of the
Chairman of Atiba Local Government Area of Oyo State in the local
government election to be conducted by the 2nd Defendant on 27th April,
2024.

The Court in a writ summons document made available to Westerndailynews.com thereafter commanded all defendants to appear before the honorable court on or before 30 days of receiving the notice of the aurmon.
