Ido LG Chairman Holds Security Meeting with Farmers, Stakeholders Over Rising Concerns

The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has convened a stakeholders’ meeting involving farmers, security agencies, traditional leaders, and local government officials to address growing security challenges affecting farming communities across the local government area.

The meeting, held at the Ido Local Government Secretariat Hall, provided a platform for farmers and other stakeholders to discuss security concerns and explore practical solutions to the challenges confronting agricultural activities in the area.

Speaking during the meeting, Adeojo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property throughout the local government. He stressed the importance of collaboration among residents, farmers, community leaders, and security agencies in tackling insecurity.

The council chairman urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the appropriate authorities, noting that timely information remains crucial in preventing criminal activities.

Responding to issues raised by participants, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Omi Apata Division explained the legal procedures guiding law enforcement operations. She also enlightened farmers on the proper steps to take when reporting incidents to ensure that their complaints are adequately documented and thoroughly investigated.

Speaking on behalf of the farming community, the Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Ido Local Government chapter, Mr. Abdullahi Adeniji, commended the council chairman for creating an avenue for farmers to engage directly with relevant stakeholders on security matters.

Adeniji described the meeting as timely and beneficial, assuring that farmers would apply the knowledge gained to improve security awareness and cooperation within their communities.

He further expressed confidence that the outcomes of the meeting would have a positive impact on agricultural activities and the overall development of Ido Local Government.

The meeting was attended by several key government officials and community leaders, including the Local Government Secretary, Alhaji Kamorudeen Gbadamosi; the Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture, Hon. Saka Kabir; the Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Sarafadeen Aminu; the Director of Administration and General Services, Mr. Victor Adelu; the Baale Agba of Ido, Alhaji Bliaminu Apanpa; and the Chairman of the Sustainable Farmers of Nigeria (SUFAN), Mr. Oyeleso Olugbenga.

Other stakeholders from farming communities across the local government area were also present at the meeting.
