Eid-il-fitr: Pray for Nigeria’s Survival, Ilaka Urges Muslim Ummah
The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka has called on Muslim Ummah and Nigerians in general to use the period of this year Eid-il-fitr celebration to pray fervently for the country.
In his sallah message to mark the end of Ramadan fasting, Ilaka congratulates Muslims on completing the “month of sacrifice” stressed the importance of putting the virtues of Islam into practice beyond the fasting season.
He said “the country is under pressure, prayer and God intervention is needed in these trying times” Ilaka explained.
The Oyo High Chief who doubles as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, used the sallah celebration to advise residents of Oyo State, to comply with the government directives, in combating the scourge of Covid-19, that is ; Washing of hands, maintain social distancing, wearing of face mask, avoiding crowded places and if possible staying at home, adding that compliance with these directives afford us the best chance of defeating this pandemic.
He also empathised with the victims of the pandemic and families that have lost loved one to the virus.
Ilaka commended His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde for various steps being taking in repositioning the state, while assuring the residents that the state would pull through these current trying times.
