The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Bimbo Adekanmbi, has pledged to sustain and build on the existing relationship between the state government and the Muslim community if elected governor in 2027.
Adekanmbi made the commitment while attending the Hijrah 1448/2026 Luncheon alongside his running mate, Engr. Muftau Open Salawu.
Speaking at the event, Adekanmbi appreciated members of the Muslim community for their trust, support and goodwill towards the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
He commended Makinde for what he described as his consistent commitment to celebrating Hijrah with Muslims in the state throughout his tenure, noting that the gesture had demonstrated the administration’s recognition of the importance of the Islamic community in the affairs of the state.
According to him, the annual Hijrah celebration under the present administration reflects an inclusive approach to governance and respect for the religious communities in Oyo State.
Adekanmbi assured the gathering that, if elected governor, his administration would continue from where Makinde stopped, particularly in maintaining a strong relationship with the Muslim community.
He promised that the Islamic community would continue to enjoy the patronage and attention of government under his administration, while stressing the need for a government that accommodates and respects all religious and social groups in the state.
He called for continued support and cooperation from the Muslim community as the state moves towards the 2027 governorship election.
