Gubernatorial Candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Oyo State, Adebiyi Adedapo, has congratulated Alhaji Abdulrahseed Adebisi Olopoeyan on his 65th birthday, describing him as an exceptional leader and political mentor whose influence transcends party lines.
In a congratulatory message issued to mark the occasion, Adedapo said Olopoeyan had distinguished himself through wisdom, humility, courage, and an unwavering commitment to the progress of the people.
He described the celebrant as “a leader beyond political party divides,” noting that Olopoeyan had consistently promoted unity, cooperation, and mutual respect among people of different political persuasions.
According to him, Olopoeyan’s approach to leadership demonstrated that politics should be centred on service to the people rather than personal interest or partisan disagreement.
Adedapo said the 65-year-old political leader had opened his doors to individuals from diverse backgrounds and continued to serve as a source of guidance and encouragement to many people.
He also acknowledged Olopoeyan’s contributions to the NNPP, saying his impact on the party remained indelible despite his decision to move on to another political party.
“Although Alhaji Olopoeyan has moved on to another political party, his impact in the NNPP remains indelible. The values he promoted, the people he mentored, and the contributions he made to our political journey will continue to be remembered,” Adedapo said.
He praised Olopoeyan’s leadership legacy, saying it was reflected in the quality of leaders his mentorship had produced over the years.
“The leaders his leadership has produced now occupy enviable positions in public service, governance, business, and community development,” he said.
Reflecting on their political journey, the NNPP candidate said Olopoeyan had taught him and others the enduring values of honesty, patience, and perseverance.
Adedapo explained that the political leader’s counsel had helped many people navigate the challenges of political participation with discipline, integrity, and a strong sense of purpose.
“He has taught us that public service must be founded on honesty, meaningful progress requires patience, and every worthy cause demands perseverance,” he said.
The NNPP candidate commended Olopoeyan for remaining steadfast in his commitment to justice, progress, responsible leadership, and the development of Oyo State and Nigeria.
In a rare tribute, Adedapo added that no politician in Oyo State has been able to galvanise the grassroots like Olopoeyan since the demise of the late Alhaji Lamidi Ariyibi Adedeibu, underscoring the depth of his grassroots reach and political endurance.
