The lawmaker representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON), has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, urging citizens to renew their patriotism, strengthen national unity and remain committed to building a better Nigeria.
Oyekunle, in a goodwill message to mark the anniversary, called on Nigerians to reflect on the nation’s journey since independence and recommit themselves to the ideals of democracy, justice, equity and good governance.
The federal lawmaker also urged citizens to hold elected leaders accountable for their promises and responsibilities, stressing that democratic participation should go beyond elections.
He encouraged Nigerians to use their votes wisely and make their voices count through the ballot box, particularly in advancing the interests of the underprivileged and vulnerable members of society.
According to him, leadership at all levels must remain focused on improving the lives of citizens, creating opportunities for young people, strengthening education and healthcare, and providing the infrastructure and social support required to raise the standard of living.
Oyekunle further urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and actively contribute to national development, noting that the responsibility for building a prosperous nation rests not only with government officials but also with citizens.
He reaffirmed his commitment to effective representation and people-oriented initiatives in Ibadan North Federal Constituency, while calling for greater support for efforts aimed at promoting national development, unity and inclusive governance.
