The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has felicitated with residents of Ido Local Government, Oyo State and Nigerians at large on the occasion of the country’s 66th Independence Anniversary, calling for renewed hope, unity and peace.
In his Independence Day message, Adeojo described October 1 as a significant day that reminds Nigerians of the sacrifices, courage and unity of the country’s founding fathers who fought for Nigeria’s freedom and sovereignty.
The council chairman said that despite the challenges confronting the nation, Nigeria has every reason to celebrate, given the resilience and industriousness of its people as well as the progress recorded over the past 66 years.
“On this special day, I, on behalf of the Vice Chairman, Legislative Arm of the Local Government, Secretary to the Local Government, Chief of Staff and the entire management team of Ido Local Government, congratulate every son and daughter of Ido Local Government, from Wards 1 to 10, Oyo State and indeed all Nigerians.
“This is a day of hope and reflection. We must continue to believe in the greatness of our nation and work together for peace, unity and development,” he stated.
Adeojo assured residents of Ido Local Government that his administration remained committed to people-oriented governance, infrastructural development and empowerment programmes targeting youths, women and widows, as well as initiatives aimed at improving the lives of residents at the grassroots.
He said the administration would continue to align its programmes with the Omituntun 2.0 sustainable development agenda of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The council boss also called on residents to continue to live peacefully, shun violence and support efforts aimed at promoting peace, security and development across Oyo State and Nigeria.
He prayed for continued unity, prosperity and greater achievements for Nigeria, urging citizens to remain hopeful and committed to the collective development of the nation.
