The former governor of Oyo State and governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Otunba Christopher Alao-Akala on Monday met the leadership of a youth group under the aegis of Oke-Ogun Parapo Youth Forum in Ago-Amodu, the headquarters of Saki East local government area.

The OPYF whose membership strength is above 30,000 across the 10 LGAs of Oke-Ogun declared for ADP and pledged to work tirelessly for the governorship bid of Otunba Alao-Akala in the forthcoming elections.

President of the group, Comrade Bayo Adewuyi, said they have taken time to compare and contrast the performances of Alao-Akala and that of his successor, Governor Abiola Ajimobi and came to term with the realities of Alao-Akala’s unequal delivery of dividends of democracy in the Oke-Ogun.

Worried by the evil and mis-governance of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under Governor Ajimobi, Com. Adewuyi, averred that they decided to drop party politics and work for a person that is truly passionate about the welfare and developments of Oke-Ogun and her people. He observed that as youth, if they decide to squander the opportunity to campaign, mobilise and vote for Otunba Alao-Akala, posterity will not remember them well.

In the same vein, General Secretary of the group, Comrade Adeshina Aarinola, showered encomium on Alao-Akala for his unprecedented achievements recorded in Oke-Ogun during his first reign as governor, which include establishment of Oke-Ogun FM radio, a standard Orientation Camp for youth corps, massive roads constructions, constructions of health facilities in every local government area, appointment of sons and daughters into sensitive positions in government and among other dividends of democracy.

In his response, the ADP governorship candidate showered praises on the youth group for being truthful to themselves. Alao-Akala said he is seeking another opportunity to govern the state, in a rescue mission, to reposition the state for the betterment of the people. In his words: “My heart aches because 90% of the outgoing government’s policies, programmes and projects are best described as anti-people, which leave our people in pain and despondency”.

He described what it called marginalisation of Oke-Ogun zone as unfortunate saying it is the time for the sons and daughters of other geo-political zones: Oke-Ogun, Ibarapa, Oyo and Ogbomosho to realize that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has nothing to offer them apart from suffering and pains. Alao-Akala therefore pledged to restore fair and equitable distribution of projects across the state when voted to power again. He concluded his speech by emphasising that jobs creation for the youths and women empowerment are part of his topmost priorities.
