S/W Progressives Needs To Retrace Awolowo, Bola Ige, Lam Steps – Fola Akinosun
…….. condole with Baba Akin Oke over the demise of daughter
Dr Fola Akinosun says it is time for the progressives in the southwest states of Nigeria to put away their differences and reposition the party with a sincere purpose, for a formidable team.
Dr Akinosun and some political big wigs in APC who were apparently not satisfied with the ugly developments in the All Progressives Congress ( APC ) before this year’s general election, which led to the defection of many of its members, bore their minds at a Independence day conference of progressives, held in ibadan.
Dr Akinosun, a former Oyo South senatorial district aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, APC, said though he had moved on from the past but expressed worry that the party towed a line of political structure that is alien to the real progressivism as laid by chief Obafemi Awolowo, chief Bola Ige, Alhaji Lam Adesina and other Yoruba leaders.
He said the present crop of politicians in the progressives camp cannot afford to fail the Nations hero’s, hence the need to retrace, reconcile and genuinely correct impunity and other situations that made aggrieved members to defect to other parties.
Dr Akinosun further stated that his involvement in politics was driven by his interest to positively affect more lives, having observed that his philanthropic gesture, given to the less privilege to study on scholarships in his foreign links higher institution was not enough to positively change the lives of the people.
In another development, Dr Akinosun passionately appealed to Governor Seyi Makinde to revisit a case of acquisition of 1400 hectares of land at Iroko village in Akinyele Local Government, by the immediate past administration without compensation.
Dr Akinosun noted that for the administration of Governor Makinde to revoke the alleged illegal sharing of lands from the state’s forest reserve, he should also consider returning lands acquired by the immediate past tenure to their original owners.
Meanwhile, The philanthropist condoled with the family of the chairman , All progressives Congress, APC, Oyo state, Chief Akin Oke over the demise of his daughter, Mrs Taiwo Ogunode.
Dr Akinosun also paid a condolence visit to the family of Late Tawa Olayiwola, who was until her death, a very young lady and financial secretary of APC ward 11, Ibadan South East local government, where Dr Akinosun consoled the family and donated cash gift for the two children she left behind.
He prayed that God should give the family of Akin Oke and Olayiwola the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
