Oyo, Osun Owing LAUTECH N6billion – V.C Tells Makinde

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Vice Chancellor, Prof. Michael Ologunde has said Oyo and Osun state governments are indebted to the tune of over N6billion.

Prof. Ologunde made the disclosure while welcoming Oyo state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde during a meeting with the stakeholders of the institution, held on the campus.

The visit of oyo governor Makinde
was in order to resolve the current crisis which resulted in strike action by staff on November 18, 2019.

Makinde discussing with the stakeholders on Tuesday announced that the state would release N500million to the management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho to settle part of the outstanding salaries.

earlier, Osun State Government has released N250 million to offset salary arrears and set up a committee to look at the issues surrounding the joint ownership agreements and proffer a solution to the challenges facing the institution.

As total money released to the school by Oyo and Osun now up to #750million with the aim that it will go a long way to settle the financial challenges of the school, the
staff unions and other stakeholders has called for more finance from the the states so as to made steady academic calendar and payment of outstanding salaries. They warned against any attempt to privatise the university.
