Oyo NNPP Campaign Council Sympathizes With People Of Apata Whose Shops Were Gutted By Fire

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) campaign council in Oyo State, has sympathized with the people at the Apapta Market, in Ibadan, where a patrol tanker skipped off the road and caught fire, which wreaked havoc on many shops along the Ibadan Omi Adio Abeokuta road, in Ido Local government, of Oyo State.
In a statement by the council, it was stated that, though no life was reportedly lost, in the inferno, the damages done to shops with goods, worth several millions of Naira, which are the means of livelihood of the owners with a lot of dependents, caused a great grieve to the party and the people of Oyo State.
The council expressed heartfelt sympathy to the owners of the shops and their families and the entire people of Oyo state, particularly, those in the Apata area, where commercial activities have been disrupted due to the fire incident.
The NNPP said, that though the incident came unexpectedly, it was of the view that if the governments of the day they have been responsive to the feelings of the people, some of the accidents and calamities on our roads and highways, should have been avoided.
It, therefore, used the incident to appeal to the Federal government for the dualization of the road, which has been long overdue, since the era of Brigadier Oluwole Rotimi as the Military governor of the defunct Western state.
It said that subsequent administrators and executive governors, who had ruled and presently ruling the State, ought to have pressed for the reconstruction and dualization of the Ibadan Abeokuta road.
He however promised that when he gets to office as the governor of Oyo state one of his priorities would be how to collaborate with the Federal government to get the road done.
The campaign council also felt that the Apata area is too clumsy with heavy vehicular movements which always caused traffic nuisance on the road, especially the Apata market axis.
It noted that the incident has now called for the relocation of the market to a new place where traffic would not be disrupted.
This, he pointed out would be one of the party’s major priorities in government
