Obideji Declares Interest In Oyo House Of Assembly Seat, Seeks Lagelu PDP Party Leaders, Excos For Support
An educationist, Babatunde Obideji has declared his interest to run for Oyo state House of Assembly seat under the platform of People’s Democratic Party ( PDP ) in Lagelu local government area of Oyo state.
Obideji, who aspires to represent the lagelu state Constituency in 2023, disclosed this while meeting with the local government party stakeholders and Excos at the party secretariat, Iyana-Offa.
He hinted that his decision to run for elected office is to deliver unmatched representation to his constituents and speak the mind of his people.
While speaking, Obideji said ” I am hundred percent part of you, I was born here in this local government, I am from Igbo Elerin village, also living in this local government, so I know what it takes to demand for and give a dividend of democracy. Am here today to seek your support like you have done for others and if I got the ticket and elected as lawmaker, I will not neglect you and the constituency.
He continued ” like I said, I am part of you in this party and in the local government, as one of the constituents in this local government, I understand the terrain, I know the expectations of we the people from government and at the same time with my exposure and experience working with government, I understand the easier methods to deliver dividends of democracy if in power but I can’t do it alone, I need the physical and spiritual supports of you, seasoned politicians, you had done if for others, today am here before you, seeking your unreserved supports.
The aspirant highlighted his soft spot for vulnerable and underserved groups such as the youths, women, children and the elderly, through empowerment schemes aimed at improving their human condition.
Obideji further made a commitment before the local government party leaders, 14 Ward Chairmen and local government party executive that his ambition is about service and bringing development to the people.
He added: “I am committed to bettering the lives of the youth, women the elderly stressing the need for the inclusion of the youth and women in decision making towards a greater and cohesive constituency.”
