Makinde Begins Road Assessment For Conversion Of Ibadan National Airport To International Airport
The executive governor of Oyo state, His Excellency Governor (Engineer) Oluseyi Makinde accompanied by commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transportation, Professor Raphael Afonja on Tuesday night went on-the-spot assessment exercise to the service road linking to Ibadan Airport, in preparation for the conversion of Ibadan National Airport to International Airport.
The major purpose of the exercise is to closely observe the site of the proposed dualization of Old-Ife Road-Airport service road to ensure it accommodates the potential traffic implication of the proposed transformation.
One notable location of importance to His Excellency is the probability of a feasible alternative route to service the traffic volume of Lagos/Ibadan Express way which has to be altered at its intersection with Old-Ife Road at Onipenpeye(Saw-mill) bridge.
The duo later proceeded to Ojoo interchange to observe the commercial transporters compliance to relocation order earlier issued on them to move from the interchange to the designated Akinyele Trailer Park. This is in order to curtail the ceaseless traffic congestion in the area once and for all.
