Harry Akande Was A Great Philanthropist, National Icon – Alli
A former Secretary to the Oyo state government, Akogun Sharafadeen Alli on Sunday described the late Ibadan billionaire and former presidential aspirant, Chief Harry Akande as a great philanthropist.
He also described him as a national icon who had attracted many investments to Oyo state and Nigeria at large.
Alli who stated this in a statement he personally signed in Ibadan, said the whole of Ibadanland would miss the late billionaire.
He said: “As a younger brother to chief Harry Akande, I received the news of his demise with a sense of great personal loss. It is hard to imagine that the very lively and warm uncle Harry has died.
“Though I am saddened by his death, I give God the glory for his selfless life, which made him to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economy through wide range of investments to his fatherland.
“A great philanthropist and one time richest Nigerian, will be greatly missed and the void his death has caused will be hard, if not impossible to fill. May his soul rest in peace.
“I pray that God grant his family the fortitude to bear his loss,” he said.
