The Executive Chairman of Ido local government, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo has showered praises on the state governor, Seyi Makinde, for the construction and commissioning of another road project in his local government area.
The governor, alongside his Enugu State counterpart, Peter Mba, had officially commissioned a 12.5km Challenge- Odo Ona-Elewe-Elebu-Apata dualized road project under Ido Local Government, Ibadan, the state capital, on Friday.
The road project, which initially started under former governor, Late Adebayo Alao Akala in 2008, was subsequently abandoned by successive governments until Governor Seyi Makinde re-awarded it to KOPEK Construction Ltd and was commissioned on Friday, February 16 at Owode Housing Estate Junction along Ibadan-Abeokuta Road, Ibadan.
Adeojo, in his reaction to the development, expressed satisfaction with the massive road construction and reconstruction embarked upon by Governor Makinde in different parts of the state, in which his local government has now been one of the major beneficiaries.
He noted that the endless support of the state government under the governor made the construction and commissioning of the 10 kilometers Omi-Adio to Ido Junction Road constructed by the Ido Local Government possible last December, adding that the commissioning of another 12.5km completed road project in the same local government within the space of 2 months is commendable.
Adeojo said both road projects commissioned would improve transportation in his council area, enhance drainage systems, and bring urban renewal to the grassroots.
“On behalf of residents of Ido local government, I say a big thank you to His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde. We appreciate him for not forgetting us.
“Though, most residents of Ido local government area felt neglected by the previous government, but Governor Makinde has renewed our hope in good governance. He did not leave us out in his development project across the state.
“The support on 10 kilometers Omi-Adio to Ido Junction and the construction of 12.5km Challenge- Odo Ona-Elewe-Elebu-Apata dualized roads in our local government has shown that His Excellency values us in Ido local government.
“It is a thing of joy for residents that both newly constructed roads in his local government will enhance seamless vehicular movement of people and goods along the axis and other adjoining roads as well as open the area to further development, lauding the contractor for a good job,” Adeojo stated.
