2027: Mogaji Akere Backs Makinde, Says Ibadan Indigenes Will Rally Behind Presidential Ambition
Mogaji Gbolagade Moshood Akere has thrown his weight behind the presidential ambition of Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, describing his aspiration as a source of joy and pride to Ibadan indigenes at home and in the diaspora.
Akere, who spoke with journalists on Saturday during the installation of Chief Adesola Adeduntan as the Balogun of Oyo, said the emergence of an Ibadan indigene aspiring to become President of Nigeria was a historic opportunity that should be embraced by all sons and daughters of Ibadanland.
According to him, Governor Makinde’s leadership and developmental achievements in Oyo State have demonstrated that he possesses the capacity and experience required to aspire to the highest political office in the country.
He described Makinde as a fearless leader who truly carries the spirit of the great warlords and ancestors of Ibadan, noting that his courage, commitment and determination in governing Oyo State have distinguished him among political leaders.
“Being an Ibadan Mogaji, it is a thing of joy for me and, indeed, for every Ibadan indigene to see one of our own aspiring to become the President of Nigeria. We should be proud of this opportunity and give him our prayers and support,” Akere said.
The Ibadan traditional title holder further noted that Makinde’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic development, workers’ welfare and other sectors of Oyo State were sufficient evidence of his preparedness for the presidency.
Akere prayed for the success of the governor’s presidential ambition, assuring him that he would enjoy the support and goodwill of Ibadan indigenes, both at home and in the diaspora.
He added that the people of Ibadan would continue to closely identify with any aspiration that would bring greater development, dignity and progress to the people of Nigeria.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has demonstrated that he is capable of taking his leadership beyond Oyo State. I pray that God will grant him success, and I assure him that he will have the support of Ibadan people, both at home and in the diaspora,” Akere added.
