The G50, a prominent grassroots political stakeholder with presence across Oyo State, has reaffirmed its unwavering support for Hon. Adebukola Ajaja and the Accord Party executive structure led by the duly elected State Chairman, Prince Kolade Ojo.

The group maintained that the Accord Party belongs to its members, grassroots stakeholders and duly elected party structures, stressing that no individual or group should be allowed to hijack the party for personal political interests.

In a statement issued on Monday, the G50 urged party members, supporters and members of the public to disregard what it described as attempts to create confusion or mislead the people of Oyo State over the authentic leadership and structure of the party.

The group also challenged claims by Oriyomi Hamzat to the governorship ticket of the Accord Party, arguing that merely presenting oneself as a candidate does not confer the status of a duly recognised governorship candidate.

According to the G50, “Oriyomi Hamzat is not the duly recognised Governorship Candidate of Accord Party merely by presenting himself as such. He remains an aspirant, and according to the valid information available to us, Hon. Kunle Busari emerged winner of the governorship primary election.”

It therefore advised members of the public to exercise caution over online publications presenting Hamzat as the official governorship candidate of the party and to verify such claims through the appropriate party authorities.

The G50 further said it was aware of ongoing legal proceedings involving Hamzat and some of his allies over claims and representations concerning their alleged candidacy.

The group maintained that, until the legal issues are conclusively determined, no individual should present disputed claims as settled facts or make representations capable of misleading the public.

The G50 reiterated its recognition of the Accord Party executive structure aligned with Ajaja, including the State Secretary, Hon. Yinka Dairo, Hon. Nurudeen Okunola and other duly elected party executives operating within the structure.

It called on all Accord members to remain calm, united and focused, stressing that the party must not be reduced to an instrument for advancing the personal ambitions of individuals.

“Accord must remain a vehicle for the people, powered by its grassroots structure and guided by its duly elected leadership,” the group said.

The G50 pledged to continue defending the integrity of the Accord Party, respecting legitimate party structures and supporting all lawful processes aimed at strengthening the party and advancing its interests in Oyo State.
