2027: Group Picks NDC Oyo Central Senatorial Expression of Interest Form for Akeem Salawu
A political support group, Akeem Salawu Vanguard, has purchased the Expression of Interest Form of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Akeem Salawu ahead of the 2027 Oyo Central Senatorial election, declaring him the preferred candidate to represent the district.
The group, in a statement made available to journalists, said the move was a demonstration of confidence in Salawu’s leadership capacity, grassroots connection and commitment to people-oriented governance.
According to the Vanguard, Oyo Central requires a representative with the vision, energy and competence to address the challenges confronting the district and provide effective representation at the national level.
Members of the group described Salawu as a bridge between experience, innovation and progressive governance, stressing that his track record and engagement with youths and local communities made him suitable for the senatorial seat.
They noted that the decision to obtain the form was beyond political symbolism, adding that it reflected the growing support and belief among residents in Salawu’s ability to attract development and champion the interests of the people.
The group stated that Oyo Central needed visionary leadership capable of empowering youths, strengthening local economies and promoting policies that directly impact the people.
The Vanguard also expressed confidence in the NDC as a platform for progressive politics, describing the party as one that encourages inclusiveness, grassroots participation and opportunities for emerging leaders.
According to the group, the party’s ideology aligns with their vision of people-focused governance, democratic participation and sustainable development.
They further called on youths, stakeholders, community leaders and residents across Oyo Central Senatorial District to support the movement ahead of the 2027 elections.
The group maintained that the project was aimed at building a future anchored on accountability, development and inclusive representation.
“This is not just about a candidacy; it is about giving Oyo Central a stronger voice, renewed direction and purposeful representation. We believe Akeem Salawu possesses the capacity, vision and commitment needed for the task ahead,” the statement read.
