Ɓreaking: Abese Olubadan, Oloye Lekan Alabi is Dead


Ibadan Senior Chief and former Press Secretary to successive governors of Oyo State, Alhaji Lekan Alabi, has died at the age of 76.
Alabi, who was the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, reportedly passed away on Saturday morning in Lagos.

His death was confirmed in a statement issued by the Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Adeola Oloko.
According to family sources, the late journalist will be buried on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.
Alabi was widely regarded as one of Oyo State’s most accomplished media professionals, with a distinguished career spanning journalism, public communication and public service. He served as Press Secretary to successive governors of the state, earning widespread respect for his professionalism, dedication and contributions to government communications.

Beyond his journalism career, he was a prominent figure in Ibadan’s traditional institution, holding the revered title of Abese Olubadan in the Olubadan chieftaincy line, where he played an active role in the affairs of the ancient city.

His death has been described as a significant loss to the journalism profession, the Oyo State public service and the traditional institution in Ibadanland.
The family is expected to announce further details regarding the burial arrangements and other funeral activities in due course.
