Tosin Alabi Backs Makinde, Says Ibadan Summit Resolutions a Development Agenda

The Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal House of Representatives Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant and Chairman of the Tosin Alabi Foundation, Hon. Tosin Alabi, has lauded the Governor of Oyo State, engineer Seyi Makinde for his firm commitment to a developmental democracy, describing it as the central theme that resonated strongly during the recently concluded National Summit of Opposition Political Party Leaders held in Ibadan.
In a statement issued after the high-level gathering, Hon. Tosin Alabi noted that Governor Makinde’s role at the summit underscored his belief that democracy must go beyond political competition to deliver meaningful development, institutional strength, and inclusive governance.

According to him, the Ibadan summit served as a critical platform where opposition leaders collectively echoed the need for a democratic system that prioritizes the welfare of the people, an approach he said aligns perfectly with Makinde’s governance philosophy in Oyo State.
“Governor Makinde’s stance at the summit was not only bold but deeply rooted in his proven track record of delivering dividends of democracy.
He represents a model where governance is people-driven and development-focused,” Alabi stated.
He stressed that Makinde’s consistency in championing policies that uplift citizens lends credibility to his voice among opposition leaders seeking to strengthen Nigeria’s democratic space ahead of future elections.

Hon. Tosin Alabi further remarked that the resolutions reached at the Ibadan summit reflect a shared vision among opposition figures to promote accountability, resist any drift from democratic norms, and ensure that governance remains responsive to the needs of the populace.
“The convergence of opposition leaders in Ibadan was timely, and Governor Makinde’s contributions clearly set the tone for a democracy anchored on development, justice, and equity.
His leadership continues to inspire confidence across political divides,” he added.
Reaffirming his support, Hon. Tosin Alabi urged Nigerians, especially young leaders, to draw lessons from Makinde’s example by advocating for a system where democratic ideals translate into visible progress.
He concluded by stating that the synergy between Makinde’s governance style and the broader resolutions of the summit signals a renewed commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive democratic future for Nigeria.
