A chieftain of Oyo People’s Democratic Party, Alhaji Bisi Olopoeyan has gave reasons why he ignored a reconciliation meeting organized by Chief Bode George to reconcile aggrieved party members in Oyo state, he said he he tried to protect his life , especially at nights this time and he also believed that, such reconciliation meeting will not be fruitful.

Olopoeyan on a radio program “ Bosenlo” on Agidigbo 88.7 FM, in Ibadan on Saturday said, a reconciliation meeting called by Chief Bode George to reconcile PDP members in Oyo state was not the first one, but outcome of previous reconciliation meetings setup by governor Makinde have not been addressed, said, sitting for another reconciliation meeting is a waste of time.

“ I didn’t attended the meeting called by Chief Bode George because it was scheduled for night, so I tried to protect my life, if after the meeting and an incident happens on my way retuning home, what they will say is that, it was armed robber attack.

Speaking further, he said he failed to attend the reconciliation meeting called by Chief Bode George because he knew, nothing good will come out of the meeting, said that Dr. Saka Balogun and Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola reconciliation committees had done similar efforts with no positive results after meeting all aggrieved members.

“ We had attended several reconciliation committee’s meetings with reports not useful. Two weeks ago, we attended National reconciliation committee headed by Dr. Bukola Saraki, since we are still waiting for the report of the national reconciliation committee, I see no reason why we are to attend another reconciliation meeting at the moment, because I believed Saraki’s committee will be sincere to all factions and unbais, Saraki committee can’t be bought with any amount by any governors, they are worthy to reconcile aggrieved party members.

When asked if he is aware of the outcome of the meeting, Olopoeyan said, he had been briefed by those who attended the meeting but, all information he got was that the chief Bode George meeting was also not fruitful. “ What I was told was that, the meeting has no good end as they were told to be expecting a recall for meeting. On the issue of local government, I was told that, Governor Seyi Makinde said was that since the aggrieved had gone to law court, then they should wait for court verdict.

When asked the issue about the party primaries for May 15th local government election, Olopoeyan said, the party exco just collected money for nomination form but did not conduct any primary elections.

He explained that, he collected counselorship nomination forms for seven aspirants, I used my name to paid the money into Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha and Wasiu Adeleke’s bank accounts 808 councilors and 149 chairmen aspirants paid for nomination forms but there was no party primaries anywhere in the state.

” He added that, if the lingering issues are not solved then the crisis at hand is not address, and it if care is not taken, the crisis is capable of causing disunity among our member and such can cause us a big problem at the 2023 general election” Olopoeyan explained.

When asked why he’s always has issue with governor Seyi Makinde, Olopoeyan said, I’m not in issues with Governor Makinde, in fact, I don’t have a problem with him as a person, I don’t even have a problem in seeing him anytime I wish, but I stopped going to him when I felt that the way things are going at the party is not okay with some of our members who are the people we team up and struggle together to make sure that we have this present government in the State.

“As a party man, I always believed that things should be done accordingly, party members should be carried along in the scheme of things, whenever there is an issue we should come to a round table and settle it, for instance, those that were not given the opportunity to contest after being made to pay for their forms, should be addressed.

“Governor Makinde should have met with those aspirants earlier before the primaries, and brief them on how things we go, so those people will not have collected the forms, and as the matter is going on now, he still needs to meet with them on how the money collected from them will be returned to them, this decision will serve as a relief to those aggrieved contestants that felt cheated with the whole kangaroo primaries, and they will have no option than to stay in the party because they interest have been met with.

Speaking on why cold relationship with governor Makinde, he said :
” I decided not to go to him again when some people are carrying insinuations that I used to visit him because of money, yes I don’t deny it if I visited him he do give me money, but I’m not a begger either, as you know me well that I’m well to do, and moreso what is the essence of going to him when some of our party members are not happy with the situation of things.

“I will rather prefer that those issues should be resolved and let everyone be on the same page, keep the party stakeholders intact ahead of the coming general election.”

While answering questions on the people that are promising Governor Makinde second term in office, Olopoeyan said those people are not sincere with the governor, stressing that they are not politicians nor the masses.

He said, “Only the party and the masses with the will of God can guarantee Governor Makinde a second term in office, those saying four plus four now are the people are in his cabinet and they are not politicians and not sincere with him because of what they are eating. What is their contribution that brings this present government on board?

“The only available option for his second term in office is to as a matter of urgency organise a meeting that will bring on board all the aggrieved members and address their various issues, the present situation has gotten worsen to the extent that the State Party Chairman Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha said he wants the entire Executive cabinet of the party at be dissolved, he said it in our present at a meeting that he is frustrated, that the entire EXCO should be dissolved, saying is no longer interested in the position again, he said he is tired and fed up with the whole situations of things.

“Some are saying I am fighting Makinde because I want to be dictating to him. How is that possible? No one can dictate to a sitting Governor. One can only advise. I can’t be dictating to Governor. Our Governor doesn’t even listen to people. He does what he feels is right, whereas some issues need to be well deliberated upon. If any Governor says he is fighting someone based on the fact that such a person wants to be dictating to him such Governor is a liar and even wicked.”
