Screening Committee Rejects Nominations For Supers, SAs In Egbeda LG, Gives Reasons

In a surprising turn of events, the Screening Committee of the Legislative Council in Egbeda Local Government has rejected the nominations for Supervisors and Special Advisers. The decision was made after a thorough review of the nominations, which were found to be “unsatisfactorily” representative of the local government’s stakeholders.

According to the Committee’s report, the nominations were lopsided and did not provide adequate representation for all wards and interests within the local government. The Committee, chaired by Hon. Abdulahi Alaba, also received a petition from concerned members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Egbeda Local Government, highlighting the lack of fairness and equity in the nominations.

The Committee’s primary objective was to ensure that the nominations reflected the principles of fairness, justice, and equity. However, upon reviewing the nominations, it became apparent that they did not meet these standards. The nominations were also found to not adequately represent the diverse interests and needs of the local government, which could lead to political problems and instability.

Furthermore, the Committee noted that most leaders were not aware of the nominations process, which could result in a lack of inclusivity and disharmony within the party. Considering these findings, the Screening Committee regretfully concluded that the nominated individuals were not appointable.

The Committee’s decision was guided by the need to ensure fairness, justice, and equity in the representation of the local government. The report was signed by Hon. Alaba Abdulahi, Deputy Leader of the House and Chairman of the Screening Committee; Hon. Olaoye Adijat, Councillor Ward 5 and Secretary of the Screening Committee; and Hon. Rafiu Ibrahim, Majority Leader and Member of the Screening Committee.
