The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Hon. Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has held a security meeting with relevant agencies ahead of the forthcoming Sallah celebrations, calling for heightened vigilance to ensure peace and security across the council area.
At the meeting, Adeojo commended security personnel for their dedication and efforts in maintaining law and order within the local government, urging them to intensify surveillance and security operations before, during and after the festive period.
“There must be peace before, during and after Sallah. My people must experience a joyous celebration at this season,” the chairman stated, while stressing the need for collaboration between security agencies and residents to guarantee a peaceful celebration.
Representatives of the security agencies at the meeting appreciated the chairman for his continued support, particularly the recent distribution of solar-powered streetlights to security posts across the local government, noting that the initiative had improved visibility at night and enhanced community safety.
As part of measures aimed at maintaining security during the festive season, the council also announced the prohibition of vigil gatherings across the local government until further notice.
According to the directive, no church or mosque will be allowed to conduct vigil services within the local government area during the period.
Residents were equally advised to remain security conscious, report suspicious movements or unfamiliar persons to the nearest security post, and avoid moving alone at night.
Among stakeholders present at the meeting were Barr. Olayemi Oluwashina, Alhaji Kamorudeen Gbadamosi, Alhaji Sarafadeen Aminu, Mr. Victor Adelu, Sheikh Waliyullah Sanusi and Pastor Sunday Egbedokun, alongside Divisional Police Officers and other security operatives.
