Concerned stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have called on the national leadership of the party to provide a level playing field for all aspirants seeking the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The stakeholders, in a statement made available to journalists, urged the party leadership not to disqualify any aspirant interested in contesting the gubernatorial primaries, insisting that all are qualified and should be allowed to test their popularity before party members.

According to the group, the strength and unity of the APC in Oyo State would be better sustained through an open, transparent, and credible primary process capable of reflecting the true wishes of party members across the state.

They maintained that imposing candidates or manipulating the process in favour of any aspirant could create avoidable divisions within the party and weaken its chances in the 2027 governorship election.

The stakeholders further appealed to the national leadership of the APC to uphold internal democracy by ensuring fairness, neutrality, and equal opportunities for all contenders participating in the governorship race.

“We appeal to the national leadership of our great party not to disqualify any governorship aspirant. Every interested aspirant should be given equal opportunity to participate in the primaries, while party members should be allowed to freely decide who emerges as the party’s candidate,” the statement read.

They added that allowing a transparent process would strengthen confidence among party loyalists and demonstrate the APC’s commitment to democratic principles.
