Residents of Oyo State have been urged to embrace peace, compassion and unity as Muslims across the state celebrate this year’s Eid al-Adha festival.
This was contained in an Eid Mubarak message made available to journalists, where the celebrant extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful and the people of the state, praying that the sacred occasion would usher in peace, mercy and harmony across Oyo State.
The message, however, noted that this year’s celebration was being observed amid grief and concern over the recent tragedy in Oriire, where children were abducted by suspected criminals.
According to the statement, thoughts and prayers remain with the affected families, while expressing hope for the safe return of the abducted children.
The message also conveyed condolences to the family, colleagues, students and loved ones of the teacher who reportedly lost his life during the incident, describing the development as painful and unfortunate.
It stressed that the tragedy underscored the urgent need to strengthen security measures and safeguard lives and property across communities in the state.
“At a time like this, Eid calls us not only to celebrate but also to show compassion, stand together, and support one another,” the statement read.
Residents were further encouraged to remain united, uphold justice and continue to pray for peace and safety in all parts of Oyo State.
The statement also prayed for divine healing, improved security and prosperity for the state, while wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and rewarding Eid al-Adha celebration.
“May Allah accept our sacrifices and bless Oyo State with healing, security and prosperity,” it added.
