The Oyo State House of Assembly has condemned the rising spate of insecurity in the State and has therefore called for a joint security operation among all Security outfits to stem the tide.

This is just as the State Legislature advocated a zonal security summit to further identify the nature of the various security crises with a view to finding a lasting solution to them.

The State House of Assembly rising from an emergency meeting on the situation in the State stressed the vital need for the Police in conjunction with other security agencies including the newly established Amotekun Corps and other Vigilance groups to commence all round surveillance of every nook and cranny of the state inorder to identify and arrest perpetrators of various heinous crimes in our midst.

They assured that as legislators ,they are ready to work with the State Government and other Stakeholders especially in the area of giving legislative backings to plans and activities aimed at enhancing the security of lives and properties of the citizenry

The lawmakers particularly sympathize with the people of Ibarapaland on the surge in killing kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, rape among others in the zone in the last few months, hence they called for Justice for the victims of these crimes while also suggesting compensation for farmers whose investments have been destroyed by herders.

They were unanimous in saying that the full implementation of the anti-open hearing and grazing law across Oyo State was long overdue.

This, the Oyo State lawmakers said would help in reducing and addressing incessant conflicts between farmers and herders in various communities in the State.

The Speaker, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin who chaired the emergency meeting said the Oyo State House of Assembly was not against any ethnic group in the State, but added that the legislature will support all efforts put in place to wage total war against criminals, kidnappers, armed robbers and rapists living in Oyo State.

” Security is a joint responsibility of all and sundry. We at the House of Assembly expressed concern over the spike in insecurity across Oyo State. We need the Police to return fully to their duty posts and work together with other security agencies to further protect the lives and properties of our people. All hands must be on deck at this critical moment but we must not be seen to be out to annihilate a particular nationality hence the need to identify the evil doers living with us and roaming our streets so that they can be made to face the full wrath of the law.
