Oyo Govt. Installs New King In Oke Ogun

The Oyo State Government on Tuesday installed and presented Instrument of Office to Engr. Bashir Olalekan Abioye Siyanbola IV, as the Onigbeti of Igbeti land.

Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Abdulraheem Bayo Lawal represented the state governor at the coronation ceremony at Igbeti, Olorunsogo local government.

Presenting the instrument of Office to the new traditional leader, Bayo Lawal urged the new traditional ruler to be in togetherness with his people, to achieve a common goal in Igbetiland. He stressed the importance of unity, tolerance, and dedication in the new Oba’s leadership roles.

It will be recalled that Governor Makinde in November 2023 approved the appointment of Prince Bashir Olalekan Abioye as the new king of Igbeti Land to
succeed Oba Emmanuel Oyekan Oyebisi, Afasegbejo III, who died on Nov. 7th, 2021, at the age of 77 after spending 17 years on the throne of his fathers.

At the same time also approved the appointment of Chief Fatai Surajudeen Olapoju as the new Elemosho and Chief Bashir Bello as the new Olonko of Igbeti Land respectively.

The approval of Prince Abioye as the new Onigbeti, Olapoju as Elemosho, and Bello as the new Olonko of Igbeti Land
was in the exercise of the power conferred on Makinde by Sub-Sections 1 and 2 of the Chiefs’ Law, Cap. 28, Volume I, Laws of the Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.

 

The newly installed Oba Abioye will today February 13th officially install Chief Fatai Surajudeen Olapoju as the new Elemosho and Chief Bashir Bello as the new Olonko of Igbeti Land
