Oyo Assembly Hopeful, Akanbi Salihu Felicitates Muslims on Islamic New Year, Calls for Unity, Co-Existence
A 2027 Oyo State House of Assembly hopeful for Ogbomoso South Constituency, Hon. Habib Akanbi Salihu, popularly known as HABSAL, has extended warm greetings to Muslims in Ogbomoso South, Oyo State, and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Islamic New Year 1447 AH.
In a goodwill message released through his Personal Assistant on Media, Publicity, and Strategy, Comrade Adewuyi Adeolu, HABSAL urged Muslim faithful to reflect on the significance of the Hijrah and use the season as an opportunity for spiritual renewal and commitment to peaceful co-existence.
“The Islamic New Year, also known as Hijrah or Muharram, commemorates Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Medina — a profound journey of resilience and transformation. It is not only a historical milestone but also a symbol of hope, reflection, and purpose,” he stated.
He encouraged Muslims to embrace the new year with renewed faith, compassion, and generosity, adding that the season is a time to turn away from past mistakes and to strengthen bonds with both Allah and fellow human beings.
“Let us renew our intentions and make meaningful resolutions that deepen our spirituality and encourage us to serve others with kindness. This is a moment to show love to the needy, foster unity, and uphold the true values of Islam,” HABSAL emphasized.
He concluded his message with prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Oyo State and across the nation.
