The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has declared its readiness to reclaim power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration of Governor Seyi Makinde in the 2027 general elections, insisting that the party is now united, repositioned and gaining strength across the state.

Party leaders made the declaration in Ibadan North Federal Constituency during the grand finale of the 14–Federal Constituency Tour organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, where hundreds of new members from the PDP and Labour Party formally defected to the APC.

Speaking at the event, former Senate Leader and Oyo State Ambassador for Renewed Hope, Senator Teslim Folarin, described Ibadan North as a traditional stronghold of the APC, attributing the party’s loss in the last federal constituency by-election to internal divisions.

“Ibadan North is a stronghold of the APC. The division within our party led to the PDP’s fluke victory. Today, we are united and ready to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and dislodge the PDP from Agodi in 2027,” Folarin said.

He further claimed that the PDP and other opposition parties in the state are experiencing a mass exodus, arguing that the APC has emerged as the dominant political platform in Oyo State due to the growing acceptance of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Also speaking, the wife of a former governor of Oyo State, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, commended party leaders and members for fostering unity and rebuilding confidence within the party’s grassroots structures. She urged members to sustain discipline, cohesion and effective organisation as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify.

The Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, said the Tinubu administration has recorded notable achievements across key sectors, which, according to him, justify another four-year mandate. He called on Nigerians to continue supporting the APC in order to sustain what he described as the current path of progress.

The chief host of the event, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, described the Unity and Peace Rally as a clear indication of the APC’s growing support base in the state. He expressed confidence that the party would secure President Tinubu’s re-election, reclaim the Oyo State governorship seat and win other elective positions in 2027.

With the conclusion of the 14–Federal Constituency Tour, party leaders including Alhaji Olayide Abass; Senators Abdulfatai Buhari, Yunus Akintunde and Ayo Adeseun; Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle; Engr. Idris Adeoye; Hon. Bolaji Repete; Hon. Akeem Akogun; and Alhaji Shina Alabi said the next phase would focus on sustained grassroots engagement, voter mobilisation and continued promotion of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The rally also witnessed a wave of defections, as the APC received hundreds of new members from the PDP and Labour Party. The defectors were led by former council chairman Hon. Yusuf Shuab (Agba Egbe), former PDP local government chairman Hon. Seun Adelore, and Labour Party chieftains including Hon. Babatunde Olugbenga and Hon. Afeez Abiola.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Agba Egbe said their decision to join the APC was motivated by what he described as good governance, inclusive leadership and confidence in the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration.
