Olopoeyan Assures Equal Opportunities in APM as Chairmanship Aspirant, Elegant Lures Ido LG APC Members, ADC Excos
The chairmanship aspirant of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for Ido Local Government, Adedamola Olajide, popularly known as Elegant, has led a group of executives, ward leaders and members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and members of All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ido Local Government to the residence of the Oyo State APM leader, Alhaji Adebisi Olopoeyan, in Basorun, Ibadan, following their defection to the party.
The defectors, comprising local government executives, ward chairmen and other party leaders from across Ido Local Government, were formally received during a ceremony held on Thursday evening at Olopoeyan’s residence.
Speaking at the event, Olajide described the mass defection as a significant step towards building a stronger, more united and formidable political structure in Ido Local Government ahead of future elections.
He noted that the new members had resolved to join the APM after consultations and pledged their commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots presence across the council.
Receiving the defectors, Olopoeyan described their decision as a major boost to the political movement supporting Governor Seyi Makinde, saying the governor’s style of governance had continued to attract politicians and supporters across party lines.
He commended Makinde for what he described as impactful governance, infrastructure development and people-oriented policies, which he said had earned the governor widespread acceptance across Oyo State.
According to Olopoeyan, the governor’s performance remains the driving force behind the increasing number of politicians and residents aligning with his political direction ahead of future electoral contests.
He assured the new entrants that they would enjoy equal rights and opportunities within the political family, stressing that there would be no distinction between old and new members.
“Our doors are open to everyone who believes in the progress of Oyo State. There is no difference between those joining today and those who have been with us. Everyone is equal, and everyone has the same rights and opportunities,” Olopeyan said
He further urged the defectors to remain committed to the ideals of unity, loyalty and grassroots mobilisation, expressing confidence that their collective efforts would further strengthen the party’s structure across the state.
