NYSC Approval a Defining Moment for OYSCHST – Former SUG President, Adesiyan

The Oyo State College of Health Sciences and Technology (OYSCHST), Eleyele, Ibadan, has received approval for its graduates to participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic advancement.
A former Students’ Union President of the college, Mr. Kunle Adesiyan, described the approval as a defining moment that removes long-standing limitations faced by graduates and opens new opportunities for national service, career development, and personal growth.

In a statement made available to journalists, Adesiyan, an Environmental Health graduate of the institution, commended the college’s leadership for what he described as visionary and purposeful governance that culminated in the approval.
He specifically praised the Visitor to the College and the Chairman of the Governing Council for their support, while also lauding the Provost, Pharmacist ‘Yemisi Oyewo, for her steadfast commitment to academic quality and institutional progress.
According to him, the Provost’s reassurance to prospective and current students, as well as her resolve to sustain high academic and moral standards, reflects a leadership approach anchored on excellence and growth.
Adesiyan noted that the NYSC approval is a collective victory for the institution and its students, acknowledging their resilience, cooperation, and belief in the college’s vision. He urged students to uphold discipline and represent the institution positively wherever they are deployed for national service.

“This approval places greater responsibility on all students to remain worthy ambassadors of OYSCHST,” he said.
Highlighting the college’s long history dating back to 1933, Adesiyan said the latest development further strengthens its legacy, especially with the expansion and accreditation of additional academic programmes over the years.
He encouraged prospective students to seize the opportunity offered by the NYSC approval as preparations begin for admissions into the 2026/2027 academic session, describing the development as more than an administrative success.
“This milestone affirms OYSCHST as a critical contributor to the healthcare workforce, producing graduates equipped for public health service, national relevance, and global competitiveness,” he added.
Adesiyan served as the Students’ Union President of the institution during the 2015/2016 academic session.
