Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has sworn in Dr. Adenike Ayobami Fasina, mni, as the new Head of the Oyo State Civil and Public Service, alongside two new commissioners.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan, marked the formal assumption of office by Dr. Fasina and the inauguration of Dr. Lateef Idowu Oyeleke and Barrister Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo as members of the state executive council.
Dr. Fasina succeeds Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, the immediate past Head of Service, who retired from the Oyo State Civil Service after attaining the mandatory retirement age.
The new Head of Service, a native of Eruwa in Ibarapa East Local Government Area of the state, joined the Oyo State Civil Service in 2000 as a Statistician and rose through the ranks over a 26-year career marked by professionalism, dedication, and commitment to public service.
Before her appointment as Head of Service, Dr. Fasina served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, a position she assumed in February 2020.
Her appointment has been described as a recognition of merit, competence, and extensive institutional experience within the state’s civil service.
Speaking during the ceremony, Governor Makinde described the civil service as the “engine room” of government, stressing its critical role in driving the successful implementation of the state’s sustainable development agenda.
The governor congratulated Dr. Fasina on her appointment, expressing confidence in her ability to provide effective leadership and further enhance the efficiency and productivity of the state’s public service.
He also charged the newly inaugurated commissioners to bring their expertise and commitment to bear in advancing the administration’s development programmes and delivering more impactful governance to the people of Oyo State.
