Ido LG Chair, Adeojo Launches Omituntun 2.0 School Bags for Pupils

The Executive Chairman of Ido Local Government, Sheriff Aderemi Adeojo, has flagged off the distribution of Phase 1 of the Omituntun 2.0 free school bags to pupils in selected public primary schools within the council area.

The flag-off ceremony, held at the Local Government Hall, underscored the administration’s commitment to improving access to education and supporting families at the grassroots.

Speaking at the event, Adeojo said the initiative was designed to ease the burden on parents while encouraging pupils to remain focused on their studies. He noted that education remains a central pillar of his administration’s development agenda.

“Investing in education remains a top priority of my administration for our community development,” he said, while assuring that more interventions would be rolled out to support pupils across the local government.

Beneficiaries of the first phase of the distribution were drawn from eight public primary schools, including St. James Primary School, Alaho; Baptist Primary School, Ateere; Community Primary School, Alakaso; IDC Primary School, Olokogboro; Community Primary School, Onifufu; IDC Primary School, Seeni; and Community Primary School, Abule Ayo.

In her remarks, Mrs. Busola Adedeji, who represented the Education Secretary, Mumeen Bukola, commended the council chairman for the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that would positively impact pupils’ learning experience.

She noted that the gesture would not only support pupils academically but also motivate them to pursue their education with renewed enthusiasm. Adedeji further called on stakeholders and residents of the local government to support efforts aimed at advancing education.

Also speaking, a pupil representative, Miss Farida Biliaminu of IDC Primary School, alongside a head teacher, Mr. Ojekunle, expressed appreciation to the chairman for the distribution, praying for continued success in his leadership.

The event was attended by top government officials, including the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Kamorudeen Gbadamosi; Supervisory Councillor for Environment, Hon. Nureni Wahab Keke; Supervisory Councillor for Youths and Sports, Hon. Fakayode Kazeem Oladimeji; Head of Local Government Administration, Alhaji Sarafadeen Aminu; Director of Administration and General Services, Mr. Victor Adelu; and the Director of Education, Mrs. Ganiyat Durodola, who was represented by her deputy, Mrs. Latifat Adeagbo.

The Omituntun 2.0 initiative is part of ongoing efforts by the Ido Local Government to enhance educational development and improve the welfare of pupils across the council area.
