How Gov Seyi Makinde Is Undermining PDP NWC, NEC | Tunji Adewole
1. In Ogun State, the NWC and NEC of the PDP recognised Dr Sikirulai Ogundele as the State Chairman of the party. But Governor Seyi Makinde is relating with one Boladale Sanni who is claiming to be the Acting Chairman of the PDP.
Not minding the roles played by the late Senator Buruji Kashamu in scuttling the chance of the party in the 2019 governorship election, Governor Seyi Makinde is supporting the remnants of the Kashamu group in Ogun State.
2. In Ekiti State, the Ward, LG and State Congresses were ratified by the NWC and NEC. Yet, Governor Seyi Makinde is relating with an impostor, Kehinde Odebunmi as PDP chairman in Ekiti State as against Chief Bisi Kolawole, whose election was ratified by the party NEC.
3. In Osun State, the NWC named Hon Sunday Bisi as Chairman after Soji Adagunodo was removed. Up till now, Governor Makinde is still acting against the NWC position by recognizing Adagunodo, who took the party to court as chairman.
4. In Lagos, the State Working Committee, in exercising its powers, duly suspended the Secretary, Publicity Secretary and a Ex-officio member. Gov Seyi Makinde has been acting contrary to this position.
Now, the questions are; is Governor Seyi Makinde more powerful than the PDP NWC and NEC?
Is he a law unto himself on the running of PDP?
If Governor Seyi Makinde can choose to undermine the NWC and NEC of the PDP now, won’t he do the same in 2023 when the party picks its candidates by choosing his own candidates and working against the candidates of the party as it was done in Ogun State in 2019?
Already it is happening in Oyo State!
Ward and LG Exco members who left the PDP in 2018 and 2019 to join parties like Accord, ADC, ZLP and others are being asked to return to the PDP and go back to the Ward and LG Exco positions they were occupying before they decamped.
Mind you, these Ward and LG positions are already being occupied by other members of the PDP who stayed to work for the party.
In 2007, Seyi Makinde was in ANPP.
In 2011, Seyi Makinde was in ANPP.
In 2015, Seyi Makinde went to SDP despite that he was persuaded to accept senatorial ticket.
Seyi Makinde only returned to PDP in 2018 and who knows what he would have done if he did not get the party ticket.
Now as governor, Seyi Makinde is telling the PDP NWC and NEC to go to hell. He is saying whatever decision made by the NWC and NEC will not be binding on him!
It will be well with our party!
Dr. Tunji Adewole,
Writes from Osun state
