FG Empowers 330 Women In Oyo State

As part of efforts towards reducing poverty in Nigeria, no fewer than three hundred and thirty women in Oyo State have been given soft loans to boost their businesses.

The event which was organized by the National Directorate of Employment, NDE, in Ibadan comprised ten women drawn from each of the thirty-three local government areas of Oyo State.

In separate welcome address, the State Coordinator, NDE, Mrs. Olayinka Olayemi and the All Progressive Congress, APC, women leader in Oyo State, Mrs. Mabel Willian said women and youths in the state had no reason to remain idle, saying Federal Government had developed entrepreneurial skills that that would enable them to be empowered at the grassroots.

In her goodwill message, the representative of the Southwest Zonal Director, NDE, Mrs. Christy Olowogbemi urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the loan to enhance their business.

In an interview, wife of the former governor of Oyo State, Chief Mrs. Florence Ajimobi said President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration as well as his wife, had a vision of empowering women in Nigeria, urging the women to intensify their support for the present administration.

Mrs. Ajimobi, who said three hundred women had been given a similar empowerment scheme last December, said more empowerment programme aimed at developing women in the rural areas would be channeled to them in due time.
