Ido Local Government chairmanship aspirant, Hon. Adedamola Olajide, popularly known as Elegant, has led a major political realignment in the council area as several executives and leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
The development is seen as a boost to the APM in Ido Local Government as preparations intensify for the forthcoming local government and general elections.
Olajide, who is aspiring to contest the Ido Local Government chairmanship election on the platform of the APM, facilitated the defection of the ADC executives and ward leaders, describing the move as a step towards building a stronger and more united political structure in the council.
The defectors include both local government and ward executives of the ADC from across Ido Local Government.
Those who joined the APM are Zacchaeus Olayiwola, Local Executive Financial Secretary from Ward 5; Aminu Wasiu, Leader; Aratunde Olabode, Ward 9 Chairman; Yussuf Kassim, Local Executive Auditor from Ward 3; Tolu Titus, Local Executive Secretary; Aderibigbe Onibudo, Ward 7 Chairman; Adewole Ahmed, Ward 2 Chairman; Semiu Risau, Ward 5 Leader; Oladokun Taofeek, Youth Leader; and Kehinde Muhideen, Local Executive Treasurer representing Ward 8.
Speaking on the development, Olajide expressed confidence that the influx of experienced political leaders into the APM would strengthen the party’s grassroots structure and improve its chances in the forthcoming local government elections.
He urged the new members to remain committed to the ideals of the party and work collectively towards ensuring victory for the APM in Ido Local Government.
The defectors are expected to be officially received into the Allied Peoples Movement during a formal ceremony scheduled for Thursday, July 30, where party leaders and supporters are expected to witness the event.
