Association Of Home Economics Teachers Commends Makinde’s Decision To Employ 14,500 School Teachers, Makes Requests
The Home Economics Teachers Association of Nigeria(HETAN), Oyo State Chapter has expressed its profound appreciation to the Governor of pacesetter state, Engineer Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde on his attainment of noteworthy milestones in the education sector.
Aside, HETAN singularly expressed gratitude to the Governor on the present recruitment of additional 7500 TESCOM teachers(Public Secondary Schools), 7000 SUBEB teachers(Public Primary Schools), 3000 non-teaching staff, and approval of the inclusion of Home Economics teachers in the ongoing recruitment exercise, which it described as a testament of his magnanimity despite the present challenges.
HETAN President, Mrs Fadiji S.O. and General Secretary, Mrs Alabi T.O. showered encomiums on Governor Seyi Makinde in a release which they personally signed and made available to news men.
The association did not only show appreciation to the Governor, but also made a few requests which are stated as follows:
” The incorporation of Home Economics Subject(s) in all secondary schools(public and private) in the state”.
“The inclusion of members of their association(HETAN) who are Home Economics educationists as stakeholders in policy-making and curriculum development of Home Economics subjects in the state”.
“The provision of standard Home Economics laboratories across schools in Oyo State to ensure a seamless educational experience”.
The association however noted that the implementation has no doubt highlighted the significance of Home Economics(Foods & Nutrition, Clothing & Textiles, and Home Management) to the students who allow them to acquire skills that will enable them to be self-reliant individuals.
Also, for state and nation to provide job opportunity for youths, which in turn lowers the incidence of poverty, crime, prostitution and other social vices that are prevalent among youths.
Not only but also strengthens the cordial ties among Nigeria, neighbouring countries and the world at large through the foreign exchange of goods and services.
As the Governor continues to attain more feats and makes Oyo State proud, the association wishes to have His Excellency as its father in the state.
