Appointees in the political support group, Lana Fun Seyi, have dismissed widespread rumours alleging that they are planning to defect alongside Barrister Michael Lana Folorunso to All Progressives Congress(APC), reaffirming their unwavering commitment to the Allied People’s Movement (APM) and Governor Seyi Makinde.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, July 7, the group categorically dissociated itself from reports linking its appointees to Barrister Michael Lana’s alleged plans to leave the party for another political platform.

The statement was signed on behalf of the political appointees in the Lana Fun Seyi platform by Hon. Sunday Awobode (Oyo Zone), Hon. Olajumoke Adetoro (Ibadan Zone), Hon. Matthew Adebayo (Oke-Ogun Zone), Hon. Agbeje Simisolu (Ibarapa Zone), and Hon. Paul Adeleke (Ogbomoso Zone). The signatories described the reports as false, misleading, and capable of creating unnecessary confusion among party faithful.

According to the signatories, appointees of the Lana Fun Seyi platform remain loyal to Governor Makinde and the APM, stressing that they have no intention of abandoning the party despite ongoing political speculations surrounding Barrister Michael Lana.

The signatories maintained that, Michael Lana has been a staunch stakeholder in the PDP, whose impacts, relevance and contributions have been felt in the party.

The group noted that Governor Makinde has remained a benefactor to many of its appointees through his inclusive leadership and commitment to rewarding loyalty, adding that there is no justifiable reason for them to leave the party.

“Our commitment to the APM and Governor Seyi Makinde remains absolute. We have benefited immensely from the governor’s leadership, and we have no reason whatsoever to defect with anyone to another political party,” the statement said.

The group also recalled that a meeting of party stakeholders was recently convened by Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the PDP, after which a communiqué was issued to address issues affecting the party in the state.

Reacting to allegations recently made against Governor Makinde, the group dismissed the claims as products of sentiment and bitterness rather than an objective assessment of the administration’s performance.

While urging party members and supporters to disregard the rumours, the group called on them to remain united and focused on strengthening the APM ahead of future political engagements.

The appointees reaffirmed their readiness to continue mobilising support for Governor Makinde’s administration and the APM, expressing confidence that unity, loyalty, and collective commitment would further consolidate the party’s successes in Oyo State.
