ALAAFIN : 79 Years Remembrance

0

ALAAFIN SIYANBOLA OLADIGBOLU, AN UNFORGETTABLE MONARCH.

Precisely 79 years today, a big iroko tree fell in yoruba-land. The Oyos and the whole yoruba-land lost a gem, the Imperial Majesty, Oba Abubakar Akanbi Adedokun Siyanbola Oladigbolu. The Alaafin of oyo. The man that fell and the land shake.

The Yorubas round the world couldn’t believe the biggest Elephant in the land fell, the palaces of yoruba Kings were empty. was it true or false were people’s thoughts until Sir Arthur Richards ( the governor General) broke the news to the whole world that the father of yorubas is gone.

Baba-iyaji became speechless, Oyomesi were restless, The local hunters mounted the entrances of the palace of Iku baba-yeye for shooting of 21 local guns as traditional procedure to announce the exit of the most fearful and fearless Alaafin ever .

An enigmatic king who was full of native intelligence . The Royal families were seriously in pain for losing Siyanbola to the cold hand of death.

The british government delegates couldn’t believe the biggest shark of the ocean is gone until they got to oju-abata and met the mammoth crowd rolling on the floor with tears in their eyes. The entire yorubas felt the news of the passage of “oba afibon royin ajo”. Siyanbola omo olukuewu, ladigbolu oro omo atiba. Olowo ladugbo, oro kan , orin ka . Ekun oko ayaba . Who dared you don’t know you, who knew you don’t dare you.

Dear Grandpa, I was nowhere to be found on the 19th of December 1944 when you passed on. Even your son (my father) was less than 18 years old then. But my father was so proud of your commitment, your love, and your contributions to the whole niger area now known as the federal Republic of Nigeria. Your unparalleled contributions earned you a British title (CMG) commander of St Michael and St George by the Royal Chamber of the Great Britain. You solely represented the yorubas during 1914 almagamation as the leader and the king of yorubas anywhere under the sky. I was shocked and shared tears the day I saw your massive statue in the british Museum years back. That alone authenticated what the whole world say about your existence.

Kaabiyesi, I am so proud of you. When next I come back to this world, I wish to be a descendant of yours again and again. I shall defend and protect your legacy till infinity. Your name can never be forgotten in the history of the black race.

If by the grace of God I am chosen as the next Alaafin, I shall learn from your native ocean of wisdom and superb administrative orientation that ring bells universally.

Dear kabiyesi, we had absolutely nothing to do to stop nature from playing its role. The death remains inevitable. We pray to Almighty Allah in his infinite mercy to forgive all your shortcomings. We believe you are by the right side of the most high God since 79 years of your glorious exit. you shall remain there. You are forever in our hearts.

Your grandson
Prince Siyanbola Oladigbolu JNR.
