AKT Invests in Agbon Market, Donates Funds, Solar Lights, Flags Off Toilet Project

Honourable Member representing Lagelu State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Olajide Akintunde (AKT) has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the welfare of traders and residents with the foundation laying ceremony for a modern public toilet at Agbon Market, Iyana-Church, Ibadan, alongside the presentation of the solar street lights earlier promised to the Agbon Landlords and Landladies Association.
The event attracted a large gathering of party leaders, market stakeholders, community leaders, youths and women, who commended the lawmaker for his continued investment in projects that directly impact the lives of his constituents.

The symbolic foundation laying ceremony was jointly performed by representatives of various interest groups, including Evangelist Sunday Ayobami Gold representing the party, the Iyaloja and Babalaje representing the market leadership, representatives of the Agbon Landlords and Landladies Association, as well as the Hausa community representative, signifying unity and collective ownership of the project.
In his remarks, Hon. AKT appreciated the Executive Chairman of Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Mudashiru Kamorudeen, for the recent borehole project executed at Agbon Market, describing it as a timely intervention that has improved access to clean water for traders and residents.
He urged traders and community leaders to cultivate a strong maintenance culture, stressing that public facilities can only continue to serve their intended purpose when properly managed and protected by beneficiaries.

The lawmaker also fulfilled his earlier pledge by officially handing over the solar street lights promised to the Agbon Landlords and Landladies Association, noting that improved lighting will enhance security and promote commercial activities within the market environment.

Earlier, Hon. AKT had donated ₦500,000 each to both market leader and Agbon landlords association, and one of the highlights of the event was the public presentation of brand-new chairs, tables and a canopy by the Iyaloja of Lagelu local government. The items were purchased from the ₦500,000 financial support by the Lawmaker to the market leadership.
The transparent display of the purchased items drew applause from attendees, as the market leadership demonstrated accountability by showing how every kobo of the donation was judiciously utilized for the collective benefit of the market.
Hon. AKT commended the Iyaloja, market executives and traders for their honesty and transparency, describing the gesture as a shining example of responsible leadership and prudent management of public support. He encouraged other market associations across Lagelu Local Government to emulate the culture of accountability and openness.
