Akintayo Pledges Grassroots Health Commitment as Oyo First Lady Launches Vaccination Campaign in Ibadan North-East
The Executive Chairman of Ibadan North-East Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Akintayo (O mu Yes), has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to quality healthcare delivery, particularly at the grassroots level. This comes as the First Lady of Oyo State, Engineer (Mrs.) Tamunomini Makinde, officially flagged off the **Integrated Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign** at the Local Government Secretariat, Iwo Road, Ibadan.

The mass immunization campaign—an initiative of the Oyo State Government in collaboration with UNICEF—targets the eradication of measles and other preventable childhood diseases through statewide vaccination efforts.
Representing the First Lady at the event, Chairman of the Oyo State Primary Health Care Board, Hon. Dada Awoleye, praised the Ibadan North-East Local Government for its proactive role in supporting health initiatives and called for continued collaboration at all levels.
In her address, Engineer (Mrs.) Tamunomini Makinde emphasized the life-saving importance of immunization, particularly for children. She highlighted the strong partnership between state and local governments as essential to achieving universal health coverage in Oyo State.
Reiterating his administration’s commitment, Hon. Akintayo assured residents of his support for all programmes that enhance public health, especially those focused on women and children.

> “At Ibadan North-East, we believe health is wealth. This campaign is another bold step toward ensuring a healthier future for our children, and we will keep mobilizing our people to embrace it fully,” he stated.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Oyo State Hospital Management Board, Chief Akin Fagbemi, urged parents and guardians to take advantage of the campaign and have their children vaccinated. He assured the public of the availability of qualified health workers across all wards in the local government.

The event concluded with the symbolic vaccination of children and the distribution of health materials to mothers, marking the official start of the campaign in Ibadan North-East LGA.
