Adeojo’s Wife, Ifedolapo Leads Campaign Against Gender Violence Across Markets In Ido
The wife of the Executive Chairman of the Ido local government, Mrs. Ifedolapo Kafayat Adeojo on Tuesday, December 11, led a campaign against sexual and Gender Based Violence (GBV) across Markets within the Ido council area.
The campaign is centered on various violence being melted against women in society, which ranges from sexual abuse, wife battering, and harmful traditional practices.
The campaign, which started at the local government secretariat also had in attendance the council chairman, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, all political office holders, the Head of the Local Government Administration Dr. Mrs. Agnes Olakunbi Ojo, and other Heads of Departments.
Mrs. Adeojo in her remark said the campaign was to draw attention of the public to vulnerable groups in the local government and to demonstrate that gender-based violence will not be tolerated.
She maintained that the campaign would serve as a reminder that the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) requires not only people’s attention but also a call to action for society to unite against the issue of violence that has affected many lives.
Mrs. Adeojo said the walk is to sensitize the public against sexual and Gender-Based Violence, saying there is a need to unite and prevent violence against women.
Markets reached during the Gender Based Violence walk include, like Ido market, Omi-Adio market, Awotan market, and Apete market.
